This past weekend we went to Jacob Lake for a little getaway. It was our reward for getting our house painted.

We drove out to a viewpoint between Saddle Mountain and Marble View. We don't know what it is called, Dave and I have a knack for ending up at viewpoints that we aren't trying to get to:)

Dave said this was what he pictured the Garden of Eden to be like.

I don't think William ever noticed that there was a view, he was mostly interested in sucking on the camelback.

Then when we put him down (on a leash), he just played with the rocks.

He looks like a happy outdoorsman in this picture.

When we drove out, William "drove" the car. He was so serious about it, for 15 minutes or so, then he realized that caterpillars were falling all over the windshield, and he knows how to turn on the windshield wiper, so you get the picture-gross.

We then did a very short hike to the saddle mountain viewpoint. We opted out of the hike all the way out onto saddle mountain. Maybe next time we'll do it when we have our kelty pack and I'm not wearing birkenstocks.

Me, William, and the Monkey.
(the fun thing about this, is that it looks like we are standing on a serious ledge, but we're not)
On Sunday it was Grandmother's 85th birthday, her kids surprised her with a party.

She blew out all of her candles!
It was a fun weekend, and very much needed. When we got home, though, Dave said, "did you know it's only two weekends until the fourth?!!" I did, but apparently he didn't realize we are packing trips into our summer like sardines.

What a fun weekend. We are in need of a little getaway ourselves.
I LOVE the picture of you, William and the monkey. It's adorable. Looks like he'll be a good driver someday- maybe if he takes it seriously now, he'll take it seriously later.... :) ha ha.
Chloe loves our camelback too, especially at William's age. Surprise toys, I guess.
Glad you guys had a good time and could get away! And HOORAY for finishing your BIG house project! They are a pain to do, but sooo nice when they are done. We should all join a "Projects" club!
Great pictures of Jacob and area. It is beautiful - a little dry for the Garden of Eden (I think), but beautiful nonetheless. William is cute in his safari gear. We can't wait until the fourth!
So, reading this post took me back a few years...to 2004 to be exact. And it's fun to see Ms Rich! Remember us as watri??
